Introduction
Some 2015 model year Camry vehicles equipped with the 2AR-FE engine may exhibit an intermittent
service brake warning light “ON” condition and stored Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) C1441.
Customers may also notice the light will illuminate as the vehicle is being started, and some
customers may notice a noise or feeling similar to the ABS activating during normal braking.
The Brake Booster has been updated to address this condition.

This bulletin applies to vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs
shown below.

• This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months
or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle’s in-service date.

this bulletin.

Repair Procedure
1. Confirm that the customer has noticed a brake warning light illuminated, or a “Check Brake
System” message from the multi-information display, and that DTC C1441 is stored in either
current or history DTCs.

Has the customer noticed one or both conditions above?
• YES — Continue to step 2.
• NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.
2. Confirm the proper brake fluid level and proper operation of the braking system and parking
brake system.
Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), applicable model and model year
Repair Manual:
• 2015 Camry:
Brake – Brake System – “Brake System (Other): Brake Fluid: On-vehicle Inspection”
• 2015 Camry:
Brake – Brake System – “Brake System (Other): Brake Booster: On-vehicle Inspection”
• 2015 Camry:
Brake – Parking Brake – “Parking Brake: Parking Brake Switch: Inspection”
Are the above systems operating normally?
• YES — Replace the Brake Vacuum Booster Assembly with the updated part.
Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual:
• 2015 Camry:
Brake – Brake System – “Brake System (Other): Brake Booster: Removal / Installation”
• NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual.
3. Test drive the vehicle confirming that the brake system is operating normally, and that the
BRAKE warning indicator light is NOT illuminated.
