Check Engine Light with multiple control modules exhibiting numerous CAN codes Topic number LI54.18-N-064032 Version 1 Design group 54.18 Cable harnesses Date 05-10-2016 Validity Model 906 with OM642 engine Reason for change Reason for block Complaint: Check Engine Light with multiple control modules exhibiting numerous CAN codes such as: N3/35 CDI Control unit - DTCs P104000, P143B00, P172500 N30/4 ESP Control unit - C107600 N10 SAM Control unit - 9090, 9091, 90D8, 90D2, 90D3, 90D5, 90D9, 9094, 9095, 9099 A1 Instrument Cluster - 9110 S98 KLA Air Conditioning - B1701, B1702, B1703 N33/4 PTC heater booster (PTC) - B1021, B1022, B1028, B1029, B1030 N2/14 Supplemental restraint system (SRS) - B11B6, B119C N69/1 Driver Door (TSG) - B1022 Cause: An after market system such could be installed by an upfitter in the vehicle. Possible CAN connections to inspect: 1) Interlock function while mobility upfit with wheelchair lift o CAN module "INTERMOTIVE" connected to I-CAN 2) Radio control "AXXESS" from the steering wheel button with aftermarket radio o Upfitter like Airstream, Winnebago and assorted small companies 3) Ambulances upfit to achieve keyless-go system o Engine running while the key is removed The retrofit wiring may have been connected to the interior CAN circuit via the following: • Connector for the PSM • Left side interior CAN block • Spliced into Radio CAN wires If the control unit fails on the upfitted system this may lead to the interior CAN system becoming inoperative. Note: There should be no splicing into the vehicle's interior CAN system. Advise the customer to contact the upfitter to have the issue with the affected system corrected. Potential remedies available to the upfitters. 1) PSM software can be used for wheelchair upfit for "Intermotive" lift cases 2) Several aftermarket radio manufactures are working with MBUSA and have PSM solution for this upfit 3) PSM SCERF function is accepted from most ambulances customers, can simulate a lock-unlock function while engine running This is not a warrantable repair and should be charged to the upfitter.
