Page 1 of 2 18-2064 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 3.2L - Illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) - DTC P246C And/Or 21 February P2463 - Built On Or Before 13-Feb-2018 2018 Model: Ford 2016-2018 Transit Issue: Some 2016-2018 Transit vehicles equipped with a 3.2L diesel engine and built on or before 13-Feb-2018 may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P246C and/or P2463 in the powertrain control module (PCM). Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. Warranty Status: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool. Labor Times Operation No. Description 2016-2018 Transit 3.2L: Retrieve DTCs, Perform DPF Manual Regeneration And Reprogram The PCM Includes Time To Perform DPF Parameter Reset (Do Not Use With Any Other Labor Operations) Time 182064A 0.5 Hrs. Repair/Claim Coding Causal Part: RECALEM Condition Code: 04 Service Procedure 1. Check the vehicle build date. Was the vehicle built on or before 13-Feb-2018? (1). Yes - proceed to Step 2. (2). No - this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Controls/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for normal diagnostics. 2. Connect the Ford Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) or Ford J2534 Diagnostic Software (FJDS) to the data link connector (DLC). Check for DTCs. Are P246C and/or P2463 the only DTCs stored in the PCM? (1). Yes - proceed to Step 3. (2). No - this article does not apply. Refer to the PC/ED Manual for normal diagnostics. 3. Using IDS or FJDS, perform a diesel particulate filter (DPF) manual regeneration by selecting toolbox > powertrain > service functions > diesel particulate regeneration system > DPF manual regeneration. (1). If IDS or FJDS prompt that regeneration of the DPF is not recommended at this time, select Yes to proceed. (2). When prompted to select static or dynamic regeneration, select Static Regeneration. 4. Reprogram the PCM to the latest calibration using IDS or FJDS release 108.05 or higher. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may also be obtained at www.motorcraftservice.com. (1). NOTE: ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT STRATEGY WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO LEARN THE TRANSMISSION'S UNIQUE PARAMETERS AND IMPROVE SHIFT QUALITY. WHEN THE ADAPTIVE STRATEGY IS RESET, THE COMPUTER WILL BEGIN A RE-LEARNING PROCESS.
