Some customers may comment on a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminated.
During diagnosis, a technician may find DTC P0171 (Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 1) and/or P0174
(Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2). This code may be active or stored in history.
GM Engineering is attempting to determine the root cause of the above condition. Engineering has a
need to gather information on vehicles PRIOR to repair that may exhibit this condition. As a result,
this information will be used to "root cause" the customer's concern and develop/validate a field fix.

If you encounter a vehicle with the above concern and the vacuum leak is suspected to be from the intake manifold, call the engineer listed below for
further direction and keep the intake fastened to the engine until further direction is received.
