Wheel Clicking Sound When Moving Slow
OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves replacing the inserts attached to the wheel.

NAFTA.
NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before January 20, 2016 (MDH
0120XX) equipped with the Aluminum Wheels (Sales Codes WJT).
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customer may describe a clicking sound from the wheels plastic trim inserts when
moving slowly or when stopped. The issue is heard on sunny days when the sun heats up
the wheels and plastic inserts.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair
Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
NOTE: The figures in this Service Bulletin show the WJV wheels. The WJT wheels
are similar.
1. Remove all four wheels from the vehicle. Refer to the detailed service procedures
available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info> 22 - Tires and
Wheels> Removal.
2. Remove the plastic inserts from the wheels (Fig. 1).

3. Locate the spacers on the wheel base holes where the inserts were installed. Replace
with new spacers (15 washers; three for each of the five inserts per wheel) (Fig. 2).

4. Replace with new plastic wheel inserts .

5. Tighten the insert screws to a torque of 2.0 +/- 0.1 N·m. (18 in·Lbs) (Fig. 4).

6. Install the wheels on the vehicle (Fig. 5). Refer to the detailed service procedures
available in DealerCONNECT> TechCONNECT under: Service Info> 22 - Tires and
Wheels> Installation.
