Panoramic opening roof - fixed glass panel emits a tick sound when braking heavily, cornering fast or driving over an uneven surface. Cause. A spot of adhesive is used to hold the fixed glass panel in place whilst the PU (polyurethane) bond cures. When the spot breaks away from the inside of the glass panel a tick sound can be heard. This happens whenever the vehicle body is subjected to torsional load when cornering, braking or driving over an uneven surface. Action Use an aerosol can of clear penetrating oil containing PTFE, insert the straw into the corner of the roof between the fixed glass panel and the headlining. Apply a half second burst of clear penetrating oil onto the adhesive spot. Repeat for remaining three corners of the fixed glass panel.
