Title
Vehicle Overspeed Warning Comes Active At A Lower Speed Than Expected; Vehicle
Overspeed Warning In Driver Information Display (DID) - Model Year 2018 And
Newer With New Style Instrument Cluster
Cause
For 2018 and newer chassis, the vehicle overspeed alert may come active before the
programmed speed limit is reached.
The Vehicle Overspeed Threshold is set with parameter ZX5 and Driver overspeed
warning default trigger is set with parameter ROS. These parameters may be set at a low
enough value that road speed limit is higher. This issue is most likely to occur following
changes made to the road speed limit with pedal and/or cruise.
Solution
If the vehicle overspeed alert is activating at too low of a speed:
1. In Premium Tech Tool (PTT), run Operation 1700-22-03-03 Parameter Programming.
The Operation can be found under the Program tab.
2. Locate and review the value of parameters ZX5 and ROS.
3. Set the value for ZX5 and ROS higher than the values for the other road speed limits.
Note: The maximum value that ZX5 and ROS should be set to is 86 mph (138
km/h). Setting the value higher may cause other issues.
