Title
Volvo Chassis - Automated Manual Transmission Model F (AMT-F, I-Shift) - Possible
Infrequent Hiccup/Stumble During Steady Engine/Vehicle Speed; Diagnostic Trouble
Code P1074-92 Logging, Appears As Inactive - Common Model Years 2018 And 2019
Cause
Volvo chassis equipped with an AMT-F may exhibit a random and intermittent loss of
engine power when it is stable in gear. These stumbles last less than one second but can
be felt by the occupants of the cab. Fault code P107492 (Gears 2 and 3 engagement
system, performance or incorrect operation) may log at the same time as the stumble is
experienced. The fault code may also log occurrences with no accompanying physical
symptoms. Regardless of when the code sets, it will always be inactive when viewed on
a DTC readout.
This issue is currently under investigation. Due to the nature of the symptoms and the
relevant code appearing inactive, the problem is often diagnosed as engine-based. It has
been determined that this issue actually originates from the transmission.
Solution
If a vehicle presents the symptoms described above:
- Replace the transmission cover assembly. Release the chassis to service.
