SITUATION
Rear roller sunblind will not deploy properly on one or both sides.
CAUSE
Connection points to slider or roller are broken.
CORRECTION
After identifying broken part, perform repair according to attached instructions.
PROCEDURE
For conditions that are similar to the situation described:
Follow Rear Roller Sunblind Damage Repair procedure attached.

Work time to repair the roller sunblind according
to attached instructions.
Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowances.
Work time labor operation code 51 99 000 is not considered a Main labor operation. Also, since the “work time”
FRU allowance to be claimed is specified, a separate punch time is not required.

Rear Roller Sunblind Damage Repair
1. Examine affected attachment point of
roller sunblind to determine the
correction needed.
Is the broken component the one
that slides in the guide rail (a) or is
it the part directly attached to the
roller trim (b)?
(a) is broken- replace roller sunblind
according to REP 51 46 013
"Remove/replace/install roller
sunblind".
(b) is broken- go to next step.
2. Obtain the roller sunblind repair kit part # 41 46 7 936 971.
3. Remove left- and right-hand C-pillar
trim following REP 51 43 251
“Removing and installing/replacing
trim panel for rear left or right roof
pillar (C-pillar)”.
4. Protect rear window shelf and seat
from damage.
5. Extend the roller sunblind and
manually pull out the damaged side.

6. Pull end cap off the telescoping blind
pull.
7. Remove damaged telescoping pull
and screw-on guide slider. Verify no
broken pieces remain.

8. Attach removed slider to new
telescoping pull with included washer
and screw. Maintain right angle
between pull and slider.
Attachment Torque: 0.6Nm
9. Verify the telescoping action of the
pull is still functional.
10. Apply a thin layer of the included
grease to the indicated areas with a
syringe.
11. Retract telescoping pull and attach end cap.
12. Perform repair (from Step 4. above) on opposite end of roller blind due to the improved parts
contained in the repair kit.
13. Retract the roller blind while maintaining tension on blind to assist in proper, compact roll-up.
Utilize the assistance of another employee to maintain even lateral roll-up.
14. Reinstall C-pillar trim panels following REP 51 43 251 “Removing and installing/replacing trim
panel for rear left or right roof pillar (C-pillar)”.
15. Verify complete operation of the roller blind.
