SITUATION
The power assisted steering is unavailable at start up/drive readiness.
No communication with the Electric Power Steering (EPS).
Possible fault codes:
D356A5 - message fault (display of the check control driving dynamics 02, D: Disp_CC_DRDY_02)
-Timeout
D359BF - message fault (actual steering torque of the driver actuator, ID: AVL_STMOM_DV_ACT)
-Timeout
D356B6 - message fault (display of the check control driving dynamics 02, ID:
DISP_CC_DRDY_02) - Alive
480AB8 - internal status management of the complete monitoring range
CDA451- FlexRay, message (actual steering torque of the driver actuator, 49.0.2): missing
CDA452- FlexRay, message (actual force of the rack, 49.0.2): missing
D35B26 - message fault (actual position of the EPS, ID: AVL_PO_EPS) - Timeout
D355C4- message fault (status of the electrical steering front axle, ID: ST_EST) - Timeout
48083B- Peripheral/functional error on the engine control unit interface Actual steering angle of the
front axle; signal temporarily invalid
D35COC- message fault (actual force of the rack, ID: AVL_FORC_GRD) – Timeout.
CAUSE

CORRECTION
Perform a vehicle test with ISTA to identify fault code entries.
z
For vehicles up to production date 06/14/2016, replace the EPS. Refer to REP 3213572
"Replace electronic power steering (EPS)".
Program and encode the vehicle with ISTA/P 3.59.0 to the integration level F056-16-07-501
or a higher version.
z
For vehicles which were produced between 06/15/2016 and 11/30/2016, perform a “terminal
(15) change” (ignition on and off) 5 times; the fault is removed by this procedure.
If the terminal change procedure does not provide a solution, the steering gear must be
replaced.
Note:
A new software for fault elimination is expected to be available from November 2016 (ISTA/P
Version 3.60.0 / ISTA Next 4.02.20, I-level F056-16-11-501).
