** SOLUTION **
Title
Volvo Chassis - HVAC Recirculation Door Whistle - US17+OBD2016 Emissions,
Model Year 2018 (Common Rail Fuel System ONLY)
Cause
HVAC Recirculation Door air gap causing a whistle at speeds over 50 mph.
Solution
Over 50 mph+ conditions with the HVAC module in recirculation mode, low or medium
blower speed whistle is heard in the cab of the vehicle. This beleived to be caused by the
air gap between the recirculation door center HVAC mullion.
The gap shown in the picture is enlarged for clarity.
Note: The evaporator core can be seen through the gap.
Remove air intake from vehicle to gain access to the recirculation door area from outside
of the vehicle.
Once access is complete carefully remove a section of the sealing surface of the
door. Remove only the section that seals when the door is in recirculation
NOTE: the seal is a “V” shape so you can remove only one side of the seal see
picture.
A sharp knife or exacto knife can be used for this operation
Both doors CAN have the overmold seal cut back as shown. However one should be
sufficient.
Reinstall the air intake
