SUBJECT
Howling/Rough Running Noise when the A/C Compressor is Engaged

E82, E88 (1 Series)

Z4 vehicles produced from 2/28/09
SITUATION
When the air conditioning system is on and the A/C compressor is activated, a howling noise may be heard
between 800 and 2,400 rpm.
CAUSE
Vibration in the air condition suction line (low side).

use the plus code labor operation 00 00 556 instead.
Only one main labor operation can be claimed per repair visit. All other labor operations on the same line or other
lines must be claimed using plus code labor operations.
Claim work that results from performing ISTA diagnostics and the related test plans with the applicable defect
code and labor operations listed in KSD2.
Even though labor operation code 64 99 000 ends in “000”; it has a designated FRU allowance, and as described
above, it is not considered a main labor operation.
Please refer to the Warranty Policy and Procedures Manual regarding add-ons, proper support, documentation and
archiving requirements for claims, as applicable.
