Supersession Statement
This PI was superseded to update model years. Please discard PIT4205A.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition / Concern
Vehicle does not have Remote Keyless Entry (RPO AUO) and customer would like to pay to
have it added.
Recommendations / Instructions
It is possible to add RKE to a certified factory built vehicle. However, in doing so, the
dealer/customer also assumes total responsibility for all costs associated with this add-on.
To add this feature, it may be necessary to replace the LGM and will require the addition of
key fobs the customer is requesting to have programmed. Once all the parts are obtained, it
will be necessary to REPROGRAM the LGM and REPROGRAM the BCM with the calibration
designed for keyless entry. These calibrations typically exist in TIS2WEB for each vehicle. If
the calibration is not in TIS2WEB for the vin in question, it will be necessary to contact
Techline for a VCI number or a change to this vehicles calibration files so this feature can be
added. If a VCI number cannot be provided for the LGM in the customers vehicle, a
replacement LGM will be required. Be sure the LGM is ordered with RPO AU0 Keyless Entry.
Programming Procedures
1) Request Information from the vehicle. Make sure that ignition 1 voltage is at 12.5v. This
can be verified by using the tech 2 and viewing the BCM data list.
2) Connect the tech 2 to the Techline terminal. Select "Service Programming Systems".
3) Next select "tech 2" as the "Diagnostic Tool" and for the "Programming Process" select
"Replace and Program ECU".
4) Next in the "Supported Controllers" select the "LGM".
5) Next in the "Calibration Selection" this will give a view of the calibrations available for this
controller. The calibration needed for RKE is located under the "Lift Gate Control" tab. Select
the calibration that shows "Calibration For Vehicles With Remote Keyless Entry". Once
selected, view the "Summary of the calibration and download to the vehicle.
6) After the LGM programming is successful, it will be necessary to request information from
the vehicle again. This time it will be necessary to reprogram the BCM.
7) Connect the tech 2 to the Techline terminal. Select "Service Programming Systems".
8) Next select "tech 2" as the "Diagnostic Tool" and for the "Programming Process" select
"Reprogram ECU".
9) Next in the "Supported Controllers" select the "BCM".
10) Next in the "Calibration Selection". The calibration needed for RKE is located under the
"Locking" tab. Select the calibration that shows "Calibration For Vehicles With Remote
Keyless Entry". Once selected, view the "Summary of the calibration and download to the
vehicle.
11) Once programming has been completed and programming was successful for both
modules, it will be necessary to program the key fobs. This is done with the tech 2. Follow
SI2000 doc 665615 to complete the programming process.
Note: RKE (RPO AUO) is not standard equipment on 1SA or 1SB packaged Trailblazers and
would have to ordered separately.
RKE is standard with 1SC, 1SD, 1SE or 1SF packages. For the GMC Envoy/Envoy XL/Envoy
XUV, Oldsmobile Bravada and Buick Rainier, RKE is standard equipment.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is
resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
