SITUATION
The alarm (DWA) siren continues to activate after locking vehicle
CAUSE
An “unapproved” device is connected to the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) port of the vehicle.
This keeps the Ethernet communication line active which triggers the alarm when the vehicle tries
to enter sleep mode.
CORRECTION
Remove the “unapproved” device from OBD port.
PROCEDURE
1. Reproduce customer complaint.
2. Check for any devices plugged into or piggybacked into the OBD connector, such as:

Insurance discount tracker

Telephone App dongles for monitoring OBD outputs on a smartphone

Radar detector power supply

Was a device found in the OBD port?
YES- Go to Step 3.
NO - Run the test plan for the alarm counter.
NOTE- If the root cause of the problem was a connected OBD device then you should
see “Alarm activation due to interrupted Ethernet communication.”
3. Remove device from OBD port.
4. 4. Test DWA alarm function.
Does it operate correctly?
YES- Release the vehicle.
NO – Continue with standard diagnostic procedure. Follow test plan for any stored faults.
