Bulletin No.: PIT5634 Published date: 11/14/2018 Preliminary Information PIT5634 SES MIL / Service Brake System / Hard Brake Pedal / Speed Limited With DTC P0606 Models Brand: Model: Model Years: VIN: from to Engine: Transmissions: Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (New Model) 2019 All All All All GMC Sierra 1500 (New Model) 2019 All All All All Involved Region or Country North America Condition Some customers may comment on a SES MIL, Service Brake System, Speed Limited message and/or a lack of brake assist causing a hard brake pedal. When checking for DTC's there will be a P0606 set in the K160 Brake System Control Module and a P25A2 set in the ECM. Cause The EBCM incorrectly sets DTC P0606 indicating a Control Module Processor Performance error, when the root cause is a low voltage condition with the vehicles electrical system. If the SI diagnostics are followed for DTC P0606 it can lead to a misdiagnosis and an incorrect repair. Correction: Before performing any reprogramming events or replacing any parts, perform the following checks: - Check both the positive and negative battery cable clamps and make sure they are fully installed on to the battery post and properly tightened. The negative battery cable clamp nut torque is 4.5 Nm (40 lb in) and positive cable clamp nut torque is 14 Nm (124 lb in). Note: Make sure the battery cable clamps do not slide up the battery post while tightening the clamp nuts. - If the positive and negative battery cables are fully installed and tightened, grasp each battery cable near the battery post and make sure they are secure and that they do not spin on the post. - Inspect for any loose or poor connections at the X50D Battery Fuse Block. - Test the battery using the GR8. - Inspect the EBCM ground connections G110 and G114, which are located on the Left Engine Compartment Structure Rail. - If no issues are found, then follow SI Diagnostic Information and Procedures for DTC P0562 System Voltage Low. Note: Engineering is trying to determine next steps in the resolution of this issue. It will likely be an update to SI or a change to the EBCM Calibration or both. Warranty Information The correction for this concern may be one of several repairs. For vehicles repaired under warranty, please use the appropriate warranty labor operation based on the actual cause and repair.
