Dealers must perform this campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery and
whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
When a vehicle arrives at the service department, access Hyundai Motor America's "warranty
vehicle information" screen via WEBDCS to identify open campaigns.
Description: On certain 2019MY Veloster (JS) vehicles, the headlining assist handle on the
passenger side may exhibit noise. Follow the procedure outlined in this bulletin to repair the noise
from the assist handle area.

Service Procedure:
1.
Partially remove the passenger side front and
rear door weather strip (A).

2.
Remove the front seat belt upper anchor bolt
(B) on the passenger side center pillar upper trim.
Tightening Torque :
39.2 ~ 53.9 Nm (4.0 ~ 5.5 kgf.m, 28.9 ~ 39.8 lb-ft)

Using a plastic trim tool, separate the passenger
side center pillar lower trim (C).
NOTICE
DO NOT remove the center pillar
lower trim fully. The mounting
clip will be removed to remove
the upper portion of the trim.

Using a plastic trim tool or a similar tool,
separate the two mounting clips and remove the
passenger side center pillar upper trim (D).

5.
To remove the sunvisor (E) on the passenger side,
loosen the mounting bolt (F).

Release the sunvisor retainer (G) and headlining
mounting clip (H).

To remove the passenger side assist handle (J),
remove the assist handle attachment bolts.
Tightening Torque :
5.88~9.81 Nm ( 0.6~1.0 kgf.m, 4.34~7.23 lb-ft)

Remove the passenger side front A pillar trim (K)
using a trim tool.

Insert the trim tool into the
tether clip mounting side (L)
and remove the front pillar trim.

CAUTION
Check the position of the front pillar
trim mounting sides (tether clip).
The tether clip (M) must be replaced
with a new one.

Separate the passenger side dual lock fasteners (N)
to unlock the headliner.

10. Separate the headlining mounting fastener (O) to
lower the headliner and replace the fastener
with a new one.

CAUTION
Do not apply excessive force.
Ensure not to damage the headliner
from mishandling.

11. Check the position of the passenger side front assist
handle installation side and attach the felt pads (P) as
shown.

12. Reinstall all removed parts in reverse order
of removal.
Ensure the seat belt fastener is torqued to the below
specification.
Tightening Torque :
39.2 ~ 53.9 Nm (4.0 ~ 5.5 kgf.m, 28.9 ~ 39.8 lb-ft)
