Classification: BT18-014 Reference: Date: NTB19-005 January 17, 2019 2016-2018 TITAN/TITAN XD; VISIBLE VIBRATION IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AT 60-80 MPH WHEN UNOCCUPIED APPLIED VEHICLES: APPLIED DATE: APPLIED SEAT: 2016-2018 Titan/Titan XD (A61) Built before March 5, 2018 Front passenger seat without DVD headrest IF YOU CONFIRM The front passenger seat has a visible vibration/movement that only occurs at speeds between 60 mph and 80 mph And Vibration/movement can be reproduced while driving on smooth roads (vibration/movement not caused by road surface) And All tires are in balance and road force vibration is within specifications (see NTB11-062). ACTION Replace the front passenger seatback assembly and front passenger headrest. IMPORTANT: The purpose of ACTION (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire SERVICE PROCEDURE as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. Nissan Bulletins are intended for use by qualified technicians, not 'do-it-yourselfers'. Qualified technicians are properly trained individuals who have the equipment, tools, safety instruction, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. NOTE: If you believe that a described condition may apply to a particular vehicle, DO NOT assume that it does. See your Nissan dealer to determine if this applies to your vehicle. 1/7 SERVICE PROCEDURE WARNING: This procedure involves working on the front passenger seat. The metal seat frame has sharp edges. IMPORTANT: Follow all cautions, warnings, and notes in the Electronic Service Manual (ESM) when working on or near a Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), such as an air bag. CAUTION: Handle interior trim carefully to avoid damage. Work with clean hands and clean tools to avoid dirt and stains. Use protective covers as needed. 1. Disconnect the vehicle battery or, if applicable, batteries and wait at least 3 minutes. Disconnect the negative terminal(s) first, then the positive terminal. 2. Remove the front passenger side seat from the vehicle, and place it on a clean work surface. Refer to the ESM for seat removal information: BODY INTERIOR > SEAT > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > FRONT SEAT > Removal and Installation. 3. Unzip the seatback to access the lumbar support motor harness shown in Figure 1. Lumbar support motor harness Figure 1 2/7 NTB19-005 4. Unhook the seatback spring (Figure 2) from the right side of the seatback frame. The spring lifts straight up to unhook it from the seatback frame. 5. Unclip the lumbar support motor harness from the seatback assembly. NOTE: This clip will be replaced later in this service procedure. 6. Unplug the harness from the lumbar support motor. Remove the original harness clip. b. Attach the new harness clip 100 mm from the connector end. The new harness clip is listed in the Parts Information. 100 mm Figure 3 3/7 NTB19-005 8. Remove the seatback assembly and headrest. Refer to the ESM for seatback removal information: BODY INTERIOR > SEAT > UNIT DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY > FRONT SEAT > LH SEAT > Seatback. 9. Install the new seatback assembly and the new headrest in the reverse order of disassembly. The new seatback assembly and headrest are listed in the Parts Information. 10. Plug the lumbar support motor harness connector into the motor and attach the clip to the seatback assembly. 11. Reinstall the seat into the vehicle. Torque the seat bolts in the order shown in Figure 4. Bolt torque: 48 N•m (4.9 kg-m, 35 ft-lb) 12. Connect the vehicle battery or batteries. Figure 4 13.If needed; perform zero point reset for the passenger seat. Reset the customer settings that were lost when the vehicle battery or batteries were disconnected. For a listing of systems that may lose settings or memory when disconnecting the 12V battery, refer to the ESM section ELECTRICAL POWER CONTROL > POWER SUPPLY, GROUND CIRCUIT ELEMENTS > BASIC INSPECTION > INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT > ADDITIONAL SERVICE WHEN REMOVING BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL > Special Repair Requirements.
