Application:
• Refuse Truck
Issue
Symptom:
• Refuse trucks at altitude greater than 1220 m [ 4000 ft ] showing fault codes 2639,
1921, and 1922, which are related to high soot load.
Root Cause:
• Incorrect engine control module (ECM) calibration.
Verification
• Application is refuse truck.
• Operating altitude of the vehicle is 1220 m [ 4000 ft ] or higher.
• Calibration revision is November 2018 or earlier.

Resolution
If existing calibration revision is November 2018 or earlier:
• Perform the published troubleshooting for the fault code.
• Update ECM calibration if warrantable update applies. See Table 1 below.
• Recommended to keep a low idle speed of 800 rpm.
A new authorized change label, Part Number 5297400, must be ordered and installed on
engine. To install authorized change label:
• Fill out authorized change labor sticker with new CPL, new ECM base code,
distributor or dealer code, and date. Leave campaign number section blank.
• Clean area near engine dataplate for authorized change label.
• Engine dataplate is located on the valve cover/front gear housing.
• Peel backing material from authorized change label and install near engine
dataplate.
• SRT 99-902 is available for authorize change label installation.
