Cause Correction Copyright 2019 General Motors LLC. All Rights Reserved. The cause of the condition may be a lack of support between the top plate fasteners, which may allow the plate to come in contact with the tubular roll bars. Note: Applying tape between the round roll bars and the top plate will prevent the contact noise. Order the appropriate tape kit from the Parts table below, and apply the tape to both tubular roll bars following the steps in the Service Procedure below. Page 2 January, 2019 Bulletin No.: 18-NA-370 Service Procedure 5191685 5191678 1. Remove the 8 bolts retaining the top plate to the Sports Bar, and remove the plate. Note: Pressure applied using a roller will generate the most accurate dispersion of pressure, for proper wet-out of the tape. 4. As shown above, apply the tape between the fastener hole locations. 5191682 2. Noted in the graphic above, clean the areas between the bolt holes. Remove any dirt and debris, and finish cleaning with an alcohol wipe to assure adhesion of the tape. Note: The 6 pieces of tape from the attachment kit are all the same thickness and width, however regardless of vehicle, the tape pieces will need to be cut to the proper length. 3. Cut the 6 pieces of tape to the appropriate length dimension specified below: • For full size trucks, the tape length needs to be trimmed to 330 mm (13 in). • For mid size trucks, the tape length needs to be trimmed to 250 mm (9.85 in). 5191687 Important: Note that the large holes in the top plate are available for additional mounted accessories. As shown in the graphic above, they need to be oriented over the rearward tubing. 5. Reposition the top plate and install the 8 bolts. Tighten Tighten the bolts to 20 Y(14.75 lb ft). 6. Verify the noise has been eliminated.
