TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 19-2016 3.2L Duratorq Diesel - Illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) - DTCs 08 February 2019 P24A0 And/Or P26A0 - Built On Or Before 13-Feb-2018 This bulletin supersedes 18-2094. Reason for update: New Part/Procedure For Same Condition Model: Ford 2016-2018 Transit Summary This article supersedes TSB 18-2094 to update the Service Procedure and Parts List. Issue: Some 2016-2018 Transit vehicles equipped with a 3.2L Duratorq diesel engine and built on or before 13-Feb2018 may exhibit an illuminated MIL with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P24A0 and/or P26A0 in the powertrain control module (PCM). Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition. Service Procedure 1. Check the vehicle build date. Was the vehicle built on or before 13-Feb-2018? (1). Yes - proceed to Step 2. (2). No - this article does not apply. Refer to the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Manual for normal diagnostics. 2. Using the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool or equivalent, retrieve DTCs. Are P24A0 and/or P26A0 the only DTCs stored in the PCM? (1). Yes - proceed to Step 3. (2). No - this article does not apply. Refer to the PC/ED Manual for normal diagnostics. 3. Replace the fuel vaporizer system glow plug. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 309-00C. 4. Inspect battery junction box (BJB) fuses F5 (3A) and F12 (20A) and replace if open. 5. Reprogram the PCM using the latest software level of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. (1). NOTE: ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT STRATEGY WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO LEARN THE TRANSMISSION'S UNIQUE PARAMETERS AND IMPROVE SHIFT QUALITY. WHEN THE ADAPTIVE STRATEGY IS RESET, THE COMPUTER WILL BEGIN A RE-LEARNING PROCESS. THIS RE-LEARNING PROCESS MAY RESULT IN FIRMER THAN NORMAL UPSHIFTS AND DOWNSHIFTS FOR SEVERAL DAYS. © 2019 Ford Motor Company All rights reserved.
