TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 3.2L Diesel - Illuminated MIL - DTC P054E - Built On Or Before 7-Feb-2019 19-2035 14 February 2019 Model: Ford 2016-2019 Transit Issue: Some 2016-2019 Transit vehicles equipped with a 3.2L diesel engine built on or before 7-Feb-2019 may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with only diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P054E stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This may be due to the PCM software. Update the PCM software to resolve the condition. Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria: • 2016-2019 Transit • 3.2L diesel engine • Built on or before 7-Feb-2019 • The only DTC stored in the PCM is P054E Warranty Status: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool. Repair/Claim Coding Causal Part: RECALEM Condition Code: 04 Service Procedure 1. Reprogram the PCM using the latest software version of the appropriate Ford diagnostic scan tool. (1). NOTE: ADVISE THE CUSTOMER THAT THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH AN ADAPTIVE TRANSMISSION SHIFT STRATEGY WHICH ALLOWS THE VEHICLE'S COMPUTER TO LEARN THE TRANSMISSION'S UNIQUE PARAMETERS AND IMPROVE SHIFT QUALITY. WHEN THE ADAPTIVE STRATEGY IS RESET, THE COMPUTER WILL BEGIN A RE-LEARNING PROCESS.
