Complaint:
At temperatures below approx.–8°C, a creaking noise may be heard in the area of the front spring.
Cause:
On vehicles with a two-leaf steel spring, this noise can be caused by friction between the spring and the intermediate
layer. This is purely a matter of ride comfort.
There is no function impairment or any possibility of damage.
Remedy:
Remove front spring as per WIS document:
Model designations 901- 903 as per AR32.20-D-0200A
Model designation 904 as per AR 32.20-D-0200E
All-wheel drive: AR32.20-D-0200B.

Detach outer spring leaf, item 1.
Remove adhesive tape, item 2.
Detach upper leaf spring and remove both intermediate bearings, item 3. Completely remove double-sided adhesive tape from spring and intermediate layer, and clean the surfaces. Bonding surfaces must be free of grease.
Apply 3M two-component adhesive to top of intermediate layer and press teflon shim with shiny (etched) surface
item 4 onto intermediate layer (see red arrow).
Reassemble front spring in the reverse order.
