These vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 404, "platform lift installations in motor vehicles." the threshold warning system may not detect the presence of a wheelchair or mobility aid user in a certain spot within the defined threshold area.

• Recall 78026 [USA]: A lift occupant can be injured should the lift begin to stow unintentionally.
  Daimler buses is recalling 465 my 2004-2008 sprinter 2500 and 3500 buses equipped with ricon platform style wheelchair lifts. These lifts fail to comply with the requirements of federal motor vehicle safety standard no. 403, "platform lift systems for motor vehicles." the anti-stow interlock may not detect the presence of a wheelchair or mobility aid user. The pressure sensing switch that detects the presence of weight on the platform was not adjusted to the necessary sensitivity level. The lift could stow even though someone or something is still on the lift.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 sprinter 2500. Before purchasing the vehicle, the contact and the dealer knew of an existing safety recall (manufacturer notification code g20). The dealer led her to believe that the recall repair would be performed before she received the keys to the vehicle. She has since learned that the repair was never made. She has been calling the dealer since receiving the recall notice and was informed that the parts were not available to make the repair. The contact stated that she drives children around and does not know if it is safe to continue. The current mileage was 2,700 and failure mileage was 600.
