Customer states:
 The message "engine oil level too low" appears.
Workshop findings:
 After a short driving time the customer concern can be confirmed, the message "engine oil level too low"
appears. If the vehicle is then operated at idle speed, the message goes out and according to the service
dipstick T40178A the oil level is correct.
Technical Background
Excessive sealer application on the engine.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
Note:
Try to reproduce the customer concern so that it can be clearly assigned to this TSB. The following measure
must only be carried out, if all the criteria (model/type, chassis number, and engine/gearbox code) are met.
Otherwise this solution won't work and repeat repairs may be necessary. In such a case, we may reject the
warranty claim and the parts will not be reimbursed.
1. In this case, it is recommended to remove the oil pump and to check the strainers and the oil drains of the oil
intake module for blockage.

2. Because of excessive sealant application (for instance during a previous repair) the oil strainers and the oil
drains of the oil intake module can be partially blocked (Figure 1), hampering the performance of the oil
pump.

3. In this case, remove the sealer residue, clean the intake module ports and replace all the strainers. The
replacement of the oil pump is not necessary.
