** SOLUTION **
Cause
Note that this code does not cause any physical symptoms. There is no effect to
vehicle operation and this code does not set any warning lights on the instrument
cluster. It will only appear on a DTC readout if one is performed. Any physical
symptoms or other fault codes present should be diagnosed as normal.
Model year 2018 and 2019 vehicles may experience DTC MID 140 PSID 210 FMI 12
with a significant number of occurrences logged when a DTC readout is reviewed. It
has been determined that the code is logged due to an Instrument Cluster Watchdog
ECU timeout, a function embedded in the cluster's main software. It is also possible that
a third party module may be causing communication interference on the J1587 Data
Link.
New software has been released to address this issue. With the new software, the
cluster will have an extended window of time to power down last and prevent the code
from setting.
Solution
For vehicles exhibiting this issue:
1. Connect to the vehicle with Premium Tech Tool (PTT).
2. Run Operation 1700-08-03-39 Program Electronic Control Unit, located under the Pr
ogram tab in PTT.
3. Select Information Display (MID 140) from the list of ECUs.
4. Make sure Update Electronic Control Unit with latest software is selected. Click
the Program button in the lower right-hand corner.
5. Allow the operation to complete. Click Exit in the lower right-hand corner of the
screen.
NOTE: This software update will also add a new function to the display. Following the
update, the Brake Air Low icon will now appear in the information display when the
correct conditions are met. The new icon can be seen below.
• This function is not related to the symptoms described for this Solution. Driver
or customer reports of this new screen may be received after performing the update,
and this note is meant to advise that this is a normal function of the new software.
