Technical Background Leaking through the bolt holes of the clutch cover. Production Solution Not applicable. Service Make sure that the oil leak definitely occurs in the bellhousing (clean transmission and apply talcum spray/leak detection spray to locate the concern on the service opening of the bellhousing). If the oil leak is limited to the service opening in the bellhousing: Remove the transmission according to the repair manual. Remove the dual-mass flywheel from the bellhousing according to the repair manual. After removing the dual-mass flywheel clean the transmission housing and locate with talcum spray/leak detection spray the oil leak location on the clutch cover. If the leak cannot be precisely located with the previous check, perform the following steps: 1. Remove the lower bolt of the cover on the passenger’s side of the plastic cover (Figure 1 and Figure 2). Figure 1. Bolt location. Figure 2. Leak location. Page 2 of 4 © 2019 Audi of America, Inc. If there is oil residue in the bolt hole, continue with this TSB repair. Remove all bolts of the clutch cover. 2. Clean the bolt holes. 3. Install 12 new bolts for the clutch cover with the part number WHT 002 459 C: Tightening torque: 12Nm + 90°. The tightening sequence is a diagonal pattern as described in the repair manual. 4. Reinstall the dual mass flywheel into the transmission per the repair manual. 5. Reinstall the transmission into the vehicle per the repair manual. 6. Check and adjust the transmission ATF level. 7. Road test for proper operation.
