Page 1 of 3 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN Poor A/C Performance - Evaporator Case Can Now Be Serviced Separately From The Climate Control Housing Assembly 19-2166 19 June 2019 Model: Ford 2015-2019 Transit Issue: Some 2015-2019 Transit vehicles may exhibit poor air conditioning (A/C) performance. If the cause of this is found to be a refrigerant leak from the evaporator, it is recommended to replace only the evaporator case as opposed to the entire climate control housing assembly. Action: Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition on vehicles that meet all of the following criteria: • 2015-2019 Transit • Evaporator core leak Parts Part Number Description CK4Z18A484-D Evaporator Case 6E5Z19B596-A A/C Evaporator O-Ring Kit Quantity 1 1 6103599 A-Pillar Trim Panel - Refer To The Parts Catalog For The VIN Specific Application 1 YN-12-D Motorcraft® PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil 1 Motorcraft® Orange Prediluted Antifreeze/Coolant (All Markets Except Canada) 2 CVC-3DIL-B Motorcraft® Orange Prediluted Antifreeze/Coolant (Canada Only) 2 VC-13DL-G Motorcraft® Yellow Prediluted Antifreeze/Coolant (All Markets Except Canada) 2 Motorcraft® Yellow Prediluted Antifreeze/Coolant (Canada Only) 2 VC-3DIL-B CVC-13DL-G Warranty Status: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Repair/Claim Coding Causal Part: 18A484 Condition Code: 42 Service Procedure NOTE: Some Transit vehicles that have had a heater core repair and system flush or were built on or after 02-Jan-2019 may be using Motorcraft Yellow Antifreeze/Coolant. If Motorcraft Yellow Antifreeze/Coolant is found in the vehicle, service with the same coolant. 1. Inspect the A/C system. Does the system show signs of leaks in components other than the evaporator? (1). Yes – this article does not apply. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 412-00. (2). No – proceed to Step 2. 2. Remove the climate control housing. Refer to WSM, Section 412-00. 3. Remove the retaining clip from the bottom of the case. Remove the 3 retaining screws and separate the blower motor case from the evaporator case. (Figure 1 Callout 2) 5. Attach the blower motor case to the new evaporator case and install the 3 retaining screws. Tighten the 3 retaining screws to 3.7 Nm +/- 0.6 (32.75 lb-in +/- 5.31). 6. Install the remaining clip. 7.
