Issue: Jaguar have received a small number of reports where the electrically deployable tow bar is not
deploying, stowing or experiencing partial operation. Affecting 18MY onwards only.
Cause: Currently under investigation.
Action: Before considering any component replacement related to the electrically deployable tow bar,
carry out a reconfiguration of the existing tow bar module following the steps below. If re-configuration
does not rectify the concern continue with diagnosis with reference to Pathfinder and the TOPIx
Workshop Manual.
1. Connect Pathfinder to the vehicle and begin a new session file.
2. Select the ‘Service tab’.
3. Select ‘Add/ remove tow bar’.
4. Follow the Pathfinder instructions to remove the tow bar from the vehicle.
5. Select the ‘ECU tab’.
6. Select the ‘tow bar module’.
7. Select ‘Update software’.
8. Follow the Pathfinder instructions to update the tow bar module software. If the software is currently
at the latest level, then continue with diagnosis with reference to Pathfinder and TOPIx Workshop
Manual.
9. Select the ‘Service tab’.
10. Select ‘Add/ remove tow bar’.
11. Follow the Pathfinder instructions to add the tow bar.
12. Disconnect Pathfinder.
13. Using the key remote lock the vehicle and remove the key from the surrounding area of the vehicle
and allow the vehicle to enter sleep mode for a period of 10 minutes.
14. Unlock vehicle and check for correct functionality of the tow bar. If the tow bar is not functioning
correctly continue with diagnosis using Pathfinder and with reference to TOPIx Workshop Manual.
