Technical Background
The DTC C12D5FA (control module for driver assist systems for picture processing does not respond) with
symptom number 221281 can occur during the start-up phase of the control module for driver assist systems.
After a few seconds, the control module for driver assist systems automatically restarts. Then it works correctly
and the messages in the instrument cluster disappear.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
1. Delete the DTC C12D5FA.
2. Instruct the customer that the concern can reoccur after start-up under specific conditions. Because the
control module for driver assistance automatically reboots, the functions are fully restored after a short time.
3. A replacement of the control module for the driver assist systems, J1121 (address word 00A5) for this DTC
does not solve this issue. Claims for replaced parts will be subject to review.
4. If the concern does not occur immediately after start-up, continue with the analysis. We recommend to
narrow down the DTCs based on the timestamp of the DTC (standard ambient conditions) and the time of the
customer concern.
