• Recall 250007 [USA]: An overheated outlet or charging cable can increase the risk of a fire.
  Volkswagen group of america, inc. (audi) is recalling certain 2022-2024 rs e-tron gt, e-tron gt, q4 e-tron sportback, q4 e-tron, 2020-2021 audi a8, 2019-2024 e-tron quattro, 2020-2024 e-tron sportback quattro, q5, and 2021-2022 a7 vehicles. When using the industrial 220v/240v plug at the 100% charge setting, some home power outlets may be incapable of handling the electrical current required to utilize the compact charging system, causing the outlet or charging cable to overheat.
  owners are advised not to use the 220v/240v compact/portable charging cable and only use the 110v home charging cable or public charging stations. Dealers will supply a new 220v/240v compact/portable charging cable with an incorporated temperature sensor, free of charge. Interim owner notification letters explaining the safety risk were mailed january 16, 2024. A second notice will be sent once remedy parts become available, anticipated mid-2024. The rear axle alignment may not have been inspected after the repairs for recall 21v-295 (42l1) were performed.

• Recall 207885 [USA]: An engine control module malfunction may cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
  Volkswagen group of america, inc. (audi) is recalling certain 2019-2021 audi a8 and 2020-2021 audi s8 vehicles. A missing sealing pin may allow moisture to enter the engine control module connector, possibly causing a control module malfunction.
  audi will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the engine control module connector for a missing sealing pin, and install it, if necessary. The connector will also be inspected for corrosion, and replaced as necessary. Repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began march 12, 20121.   Issue: on certain vehicles, the rear wheel alignment was not checked during recall 42l1 (transport canada recall 2021-249). As a result, the steering could pull to one side or another and the tires could wear unevenly. If you continue to drive the vehicle in this condition, there may be reduced traction. Eventually, a tire could fail and lose air pressure. Safety risk: a tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: audi will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect and adjust the rear wheel alignment, as necessary. Additionally, the dealer will inspect the rear tires for premature and uneven wear due to this issue, and replace them if necessary.

  Issue: on certain vehicles, the lock nuts for the rear trailing arm bolts may be defective. If a nut breaks, there could be sudden changes in rear wheel alignment. This can cause a loss of vehicle stability. Safety risk: reduced vehicle stability could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: audi will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to replace the rear trailing arm lock nuts.   Issue: on certain vehicles, the connector for the engine control module may be missing a sealing pin. As a result, moisture could enter the connector and cause the engine light to turn on and the engine to go in "fail-safe mode". This could also cause the engine to stall while driving. Safety risk: a loss of engine power could increase the risk of a crash. Corrective actions: audi will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer inspect the connector for the engine control unit and install the sealing pin, if necessary.

• Pedestrian alert sounds investigation # DP22005

  Nhtsa received a petition on or about july 18, 2022, requesting that federal motor vehicle safety standard (fmvss) 141 be applied to all electric and hybrid vehicles operating in the united states. The petition can be reviewed at nhtsa.Gov under odi number 11486072.Fmvss 141 establishes performance requirements for pedestrian alert sounds for motor vehicles. The standard applies to hybrid and electric vehicles that have a gross vehicle weight rating of 4,536 kg or less or are defined as low-speed vehicles. The standard became fully applicable to all such vehicles manufactured on or after march 1, 2021.The petitioner asserts that hybrid and electric vehicles to which the standard does not apply should be found to contain a safety defect. In support of the petition, the petitioner includes findings contained in a bill introduced in the house of representatives in 2009, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2009, h.R. 734, 111th cong. (2009). A related bill, the pedestrian safety enhancement act of 2010, became law in january 2011 (pub. L. 111-373). The petitioner requests that nhtsa require all electric and hybrid vehicles comply with fmvss 141, regardless of production date.The defect petition has been opened to evaluate the issue and determine whether to grant or deny the petition.The associated product list is not exhaustive and may contain vehicles that are equipped with pedestrian alert sounds.
