Customer states:
 MIL on.
Workshop findings:
 The fan may run permanently.
At least two of the DTCs below are stored in the engine control module (ECM), J623 (address word 0001):
 DTC P218100 (fault in cooling system).
 DTC P017B00 (sensor for cylinder head temperature, implausible signal).
 DTC P308100 (engine temperature too low).
 DTC P01E400 (sender 3 for coolant temperature, implausible signal).
Technical Background
Not applicable.
Production Solution
Implementation of the improved thermostat in to production.
Service
1. Remove the thermostat and check whether it closes completely. If the coolant is still warm, put the
thermostat in cold water to restore its original condition. If there is a gap between chamber and seal, the
thermostat is faulty and needs to be replaced.

2. Attach photos to the repair order which clearly shows
that the thermostat does not close neatly.
Note:
After the repair, fill with G12evo coolant in the coolant
circuit.

Parts replacement of the coolant temperature sender does not solve this issue. Claims for replaced parts will be
subject to review.
