Technical Background
This pigment supports the search for oil leaks from engines. The pigment of the fluorescent yellow leak search
additive makes leaks visible and is therefore ideal for finding oil leaks. The UV pigment mixes with the engine oil
and glows fluorescent yellow when the UV lamp shines onto the point of the leak. Depending on the intensity of
the leak, the engine oil may even be leaking at idle speed; very small leaks, on the other hand, can also require a
test drive. The additive can remain in the engine and is suitable for gas and diesel engines; an oil change is not
required.
Tip: Engine cleaning before following the instructions below is not necessary.
Note:
It can be used for all combustion engines. Do not use for locating transmission leaks.

Service
1. Add 4 ounces of leak search additive G 052 940 A1 to the engine via the oil filler neck. 4 ounces is sufficient
for up to 1.4 gallons of engine oil. For larger oil quantities, use double the amount. There is no danger of
damaging the engine if extra additive is put in.
2. Run the engine and locate the leak using UV lamp
VAS 231005 or equivalent (Figure 1).
