Condition
Customer states:
During steering or braking maneuvers the customer hears a creaking noise in the front of the vehicle. The
customer reports the origin of the noise to be from the front suspension and/or from the instrument panel.
Workshop findings:
The symptom is easily replicable during a test drive. The NVH tool or chassis ears set is used and the source of
the noise is found to be specifically from the front suspension strut towers.
Technical Background
A visual inspection finds the mounting bolts for the front
suspension strut tower brace not tightened. This allows
the front suspension strut towers to move slightly in
steering or braking maneuvers and generates a
creaking noise between the brace and the strut tower.
