Today, August 29, 2019, Acura is announcing a warranty extension for certain 2015 TLX vehicles with
Obsidian Blue Pearl paint to address client concerns with peeling paint around the rear glass. Acura is
extending the paint warranty coverage from 4 years/unlimited mileage to 8 years/unlimited mileage.
BACKGROUND
Some 2015 TLX vehicles that were originally painted Obsidian Blue Pearl/Fathom Blue Pearl may be
suscep ble to peeling due to insufficient paint thickness at certain areas around the rear glass. Due to
this condi on, UV rays could penetrate to the underlayer, causing oxida on and leading to paint peel.
REPAIR
Inspect the vehicle and, if necessary, have a ProFirst Cer fied Body Shop repaint the affected panel(s)
with a tri-coat paint repair. Also, be aware that DPSM approval is needed before comple ng any work.
PARTS
If needed, replacement moldings or clips are available for ordering. Refer to the parts catalog for
applicable part numbers.
TOOLS
There are no special tools or equipment required for this repair.
SERVICE BULLETIN
Service bulle n 19-033, Warranty Extension: B-588O Obsidian Blue Pearl or Fathom Blue Pearl Paint, has been
posted to the Service Informa on System (SIS) as of August 29, 2019. It includes warranty, inspec on,
and repair procedure informa on related to this warranty extension.
In addi on, Service bulle n 19-029, Warranty Extension: White Diamond Pearl Paint, has also been modified
and posted to SIS as of August 29, 2019. It includes, the inspec on, repair and also the new warranty
submission procedure informa on.
CLIENT NOTIFICATION
Acura expects to complete client no fica on by mid-October 2019.
