SITUATION
A groaning noise is present from the area of the tailgate hinge when opening and closing the tailgate.
Note: This service information bulletin contains diagnostic and repair information which was previously
included in an NED test plan that has been removed.
CAUSE
Improper tightening of the tailgate hinge.
CORRECTION
Adjust the tailgate and re-torque the tailgate hinge on both sides.
PROCEDURE
1. Ensure that the tailgate is correctly adjusted,
using ISTA repair instruction REP 41 00… “Gap
dimensions, body”.
2. Re tighten the tailgate hinge screws (1 & 2)
on both sides of the vehicle as shown to the
left.
Refer to ISTA for tightening torque
specification.
