Technical Background EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 -N80- is under the Intake Manifold making it difficult to diagnose. Service Engine off. Disconnect EVAP line connection to -N80- EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1, beneath Coolant Expansion Tank - See figure 1. Figure 1. 1 Technical Tip Transaction No: 2056714/1 Release date: 10/18/2019 01-19-06TT - EVAP Canister Purge Valve - N80- Leak Checking with Faults P0441, P0442, P0455, P0456 Use the VAG1318 pressure gauge kit to assemble an adaptor using tool numbers; VAG1318/24, VAG1318/11 and the female to female adaptor for the pressure gauge - See figure 2. Install the adaptor to the EVAP line connection to EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1 -N80-. Connect VAS6213 vacuum pump to the adaptor. See figure 3. Disconnect the electrical connector from EVAP Canister Purge Valve -N80-. Start engine and allow it to idle. Monitor the reading on the vacuum gauge. Figure 2 The reading should be at 0 PSI or higher (no vacuum should be measured). If vacuum is present, replace -N80- EVAP Canister Purge Regulator Valve 1.
