Complaint:
Engine lamp on and fault code concerning HFM logged.
Cause:
Air filter cartridge/element slats distorted.

Remedy:
1. Replace air filter element.
2. Reset HFM drift compensation via menu Adaptations > Teach-in processes > Reset HFM drift compensation values
(see file "Reset HFM" in attachment). - End
diagnosis and disconnect multiplexer from vehicle. - Keep CAN bus idle for 10 min (ignition key removed, veh. locked). - Connect Star Diagnosis and erase fault
code.
If the steps listed above are unsuccessful, then perform the next step.
- Check HFM power supply pin 2-3 (should be - 5.0V). - Check resistance of signal lines. (wiring diagram in attachment)
The engine control unit must NOT be replaced for this complaint.
