Reason for change
In the remedy under step 4, designation of seat control
unit (N32/1) added and flashing of software to current
software release prior to coding.
Reason for block
Complaint:
Height adjustment of electric steering column adjustment is nonfunctional.
Cause:
Height adjustment moves to the top limit stop and jams.
Remedy:
1.) Move out the fore/aft adjustment to the end position.
2.) Try to release the jamming by lightly striking the top of the steering wheel with the palm of your hand while simultaneously moving the adjusting switch (to the down position).
If the jamming can be released, proceed to 4.). If it is not possible to release the jamming, proceed to 3.)
3.) Detach the upper steering column trim and release the jamming by applying light hammer blows to the shaft of the
height adjustment. When doing so, move the adjusting switch to the down position after each hammer blow. Repeat this procedure until the jamming is released. Use a suitable aid (hammer handle / round wooden bar) to strike the
shaft.
4.) After the height adjustment has been released, the driver seat control unit (ESA-N32/1) must be programmed to
the current software release, if there is no new software available you should have the latest software available. The
driver seat control unit (ESA-N32/1) must be SCN coded in order to prevent jamming from occurring again.
5.) To teach in the limit stop, briefly move the height adjustment once to the top and then to the bottom limit stop.
