Please discard PIT5392C. The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. Condition / Concern Some owners may notice about 3/4 of the way through the accelerator pedal travel there is a detent/click with a feel of increased resistance. The accelerator pedal design has changed for vehicles equipped with the 8-speed and 10speed transmissions (RPO's M5U/M5X/MF6/MQB/MQE). The new accelerator pedal design has a built-in detent position near the last 1/4 of pedal travel. The detent provides tactile feedback to the operator to minimize transmission downshifting, allowing for improved fuel economy, smoother operation, etc. Pressing up to the detent will allow a more relaxed acceleration rate. When pressing through the detent, the transmission will downshift aggressively allowing for an increased acceleration rate. Recommendations / Instructions IMPORTANT: Do NOT replace any parts for this condition. This is a normal operating characteristic of the vehicle and no repair attempts should be performed. Customer Information Please communicate to the customer this condition is a normal operating characteristic of their vehicle. It will not impact the designed performance or reliability of the vehicle. Please share this information with the customer, including a copy of this message. © 2019 General Motors.
