HVAC TEMPERATURE BLEND DOOR INOPERATIVE,
TICKING AND/OR MAKING A POPPING NOISE
This Pitstop provides information regarding an inoperative, or clicking and popping noise
concern from the heater box blend door. This occurs when operating the climate control
temperature on some 2016 ~ 2019MY Optima (JFa) vehicles produced prior to January 4,
2018, which may exhibit “no temperature change” due to a sticking HVAC blend door(s)
caused by a black tar-like substance within the Heater and Evaporator Assembly. If such
substance is found, the Heater and Evaporator Assembly will need to be replaced. Refer to the
two (2) sample images shown below:
