PSS 37 Brief engine speed rise with no display of gear lever position in the instrument cluster 37 20 93 2058687/1 February 25, 2020. Model(s) Year VIN Range Vehicle-Specific Equipment A3, A3 Cabriolet, and S3 2017 - 2019 All With 0GC transmission Condition Customer states: Brief (less than two seconds) sudden increase in the engine speed. When the concern occurs, the selected gear is briefly (less than two seconds) not shown in the driver information system (DIS). This may appear as follows: a. Instead of D or S showing the display will be blank. b. Instead of M1 or M2 only the M will appear. Workshop Findings: There are no faults stored in the engine control module (ECM), J623 (address word 0001) or the transmission control module (TCM), J217 (address word 0002). There are no oil leaks from the transmission Duplication of the concern may not be possible as it is very intermittent. Technical Background The software needs to be updated.
