Condition
The vehicle may have a concern of not turning as sharp one way or the other and/or
the turning radius is not the same in either direction.
Cause
The steering will not go stop to stop due to the steering limitation valves being out
of adjustment
Correction:
Before replacing the steering gear try to learn the steering limitation valves
Perform the steps as follows:
Front wheels in neutral (centered) position.
All steering linkage installed.
Axle stops set.
Relieve the steering axle load by jacking it up (there must, however, still be a minimal load on the steered axle) or
place it on swivel plates.
Note: This will cause the piston to push the sliding bush on the screw up to the required cut-o position. During
this setting operation the steering limiter valve is constantly open which means that, or without hydraulic
assistance, the steering wheel can only be rotated further at an increased e ort (may take 2 people meaning one
guy turning the steering wheel and one pushing and pulling on the tire).
Rotate the steering wheel, with and without hydraulic assistance, to the maximum lockstop.
Repeat the setting operation for the other direction of rotation.
