Customer states:
 Heated steering wheel is not working.
 Steering wheel warning malfunction in the cluster.
Workshop findings:
The following DTC may be stored in the steering column electronics control module, J527 (address word 0016):
 DTC B145504 (Temperature sensor of steering wheel heating defective) (active/static) or (passive/sporadic)
with symptom code 7340800.
Technical Background
The steering wheel heating can switch itself off after 5 minutes under certain conditions. To switch it on, the
customer must press the button of the steering wheel heater or an ignition cycle has to take place.
Environmental conditions (such as direct sunlight, high temperatures, etc.) can also lead to the premature
deactivation of the steering wheel heating.
Note:
If there are additional DTCs in the J527 concerning the steering heater, please follow the test plan in the GFF to
resolve it or review any other TSB related to the topic.
