Complaint - Check Engine Light Active Together with Fault Memory Entries Relating to
Oxygen Sensor (20/20)
Vehicle type:
Macan S (95B)/Macan Turbo (95B)/Cayenne (9YA)/Cayenne Coupé (9YB)
Model Year:
As of 2017
Subject:
Oil separator
Information:
On vehicles with active Check Engine light and fault memory entries:
•
•
•
•
P227000 - Oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter, bank 1 – signal too lean
and/or
P227200 - Oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter, bank 2 – signal too lean
and/or
P209800 - Lambda correction behind catalytic converter, bank 2 – lean control limit
exceeded and/or
P219800 - Oxygen sensor upstream of catalytic converter, bank 2 – signal too rich
the oil separator is being replaced for no reason.
Information
An oil film in the intake system and in the throttle valve, particularly in the intake tract of cylinder bank 2
and sometimes even with drops forming, is perfectly normal and is not the cause of the fault memory
entries for the oxygen sensors.
•
The one-sided introduction of crankcase full load ventilation on cylinder bank 2 results in a significantly larger oil film compared to cylinder bank 1.
•
The traces of oil occur particularly during frequent short journeys or in cold weather.
Replacing the oil separator will not correct the problem; PAG will not cover the costs of unwarranted replacement.
Continue fault finding to determine the cause of the fault memory entries for the oxygen sensors.
The attached sample pictures show a typical oil film in the intake system (oil film OK)  Throttle
valve Vent line on oil separator.
