MIL ON With DTC(s) P1C5F19 and/or P1C5D19 Causing Over-current Condition Service Category Vehicle Interior Section Meter/Gauge/Display Market USA Applicability YEAR(S) MODEL(S) 2019 - 2020 Avalon HV, Camry HV, RAV4 HV ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Introduction Some 2019 – 2020 model year Avalon Hybrid, Camry Hybrid, and RAV4 Hybrid vehicles may exhibit a MIL ON condition with a “Hybrid System Malfunction” message displayed and one or more of the following DTC(s) that represent an over current between the MG1, MG2, and inverter/PCU: P1C5D19 – Drive Motor "A" Inverter Circuit Current Above Threshold P1C5F19 – Generator Inverter Circuit Current Above Threshold These conditions typically occur on low vehicle mileage (less than 5,000). After an occurrence, the vehicle will be able to run normally with no drivability issues. Follow the Repair Procedure in this bulletin to address these conditions. Figure 1. Does the vehicle exhibit a MIL ON condition with a “Hybrid System Malfunction” message displayed and DTC(s) P1C5D19 and/or DTC P1C5F19 present? YES — Continue to step 2. NO — This bulletin does NOT apply. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual. NOTE This condition is for DTC(s) P1C5D19 and P1C5F19. If other Hybrid DTC codes exist, this bulletin may NOT be applicable. Continue diagnosis using the applicable Repair Manual. NOTE The bolts from the inverter may be reused. Refer to TIS, applicable model and model year Repair Manual: 2019 / 2020 Avalon HV: Drivetrain – Hybrid Transmission/Transaxle – “P710 (Hybrid Transmission / Transaxle): Motor Cable: Removal” 2019 / 2020 Camry HV: Drivetrain – Hybrid Transmission/Transaxle – “P710 (Hybrid Transmission / Transaxle): Motor Cable: Removal” 2019 / 2020 RAV4 HV: Drivetrain – Hybrid Transmission/Transaxle – “P710 (Hybrid Transmission / Transaxle): Motor Cable: Removal” 3. Using compressed air, blow out ALL potential debris on the terminals and connections area of the inverter and transaxle. Visually confirm there is no debris present on terminals and connections area. 4. Reinstall the MG cable with NEW bolts into the transaxle assembly. Inverter bolts can be reused.
