Read this entire procedure before beginning work.
Use Safe Shop Practices at All Times.
To avoid personal injury:
a. Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn. Safety glasses and
protective gloves are required for working with DEF Fluid.
b. Turn the main battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.
c. Ensure that both the front and the rear wheels are chocked.
d. Position the ENGINE RUN and ENGINE START switches on the engine
compartment remote control box to the OFF position.
e. Allow enough time for components to cool down prior to working in the engine
compartment.

This procedure outlines the steps to install Alcoa nut covers on the front, tag axle wheels,
and change the mounting hardware for the drive axle hub cover.

Drive axle
Remove and save the hub cover cap on the drive axle wheel on the driver side.
Remove and save
the hub cover cap
Remove and discard the retainer nuts and screws securing the bracket.

Secure the hub cover to the bracket using screws, MCI P/N: 19-1-671, washers, MCI P/N:
19-2-23, and locknuts, MCI P/N: 19-03-0621, as shown below.

Re-install the hub cover cap.
Repeat the steps on the curbside.

Front and tag axle wheel
Remove nut covers and hub cover on the LH tag axle wheel. Save the nut covers and
discard the hub cover.

Apply masking tape, on the new hub cover, MCI P/N: 15-01-1163, and drill a 3/8” pilot
hole in the center.
Using the existing pilot hole as template drill 3” hole using 3” hole saw.
Apply masking tape and drill a
3” hole in the new hub cover,

Use cut-resistant gloves while holding the hub cover.
Use face mask while drilling the hole and the drilling must be done in a wellventilated area as the drilling could release toxic gases.
Install the modified hub cover to the wheel using existing nut covers. Turn the nut covers
approximately five full turns until the nut cover clamps the hub cover tightly against the
wheel.

Repeat the steps on the curbside tag wheel, driver side, and curbside front wheels.
