SUBJECT: No Weep Hole In Muffler Assembly OVERVIEW: This bulletin involves drilling a weep hole in the muffler assembly. MODELS: **2019 - 2020 2019 - 2020 2017 - 2018 2016 - **2018** 2015 - **2018** (BV) (FD) (MP) (FB) (BU) Jeep Renegade FIAT 500X** Jeep Compass FIAT 500X Jeep Renegade NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles within the following markets/countries: North America and EMEA. NOTE: **This bulletin applies to vehicles built on or before: • MP Vehicles March 04, 2018 (MDH 0304XX). • BV & FD Vehicles February 21, 2020 (MDH 0221XX).** SYMPTOM/CONDITION: The customer may describe a crank, no start condition, in freezing temperatures. This condition can be caused by condensation freezing in the muffler assembly. DIAGNOSIS: If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair Procedure. SPECIAL TOOLS/EQUIPMENT REQUIRED: Drill Bit 3 mm (1/8 in.) 09-004-20 -2- REPAIR PROCEDURE: 1. Raise the vehicle on hoist. Refer to the detailed service procedures available in DealerConnect> Service Library under: Service Info> 04 Vehicle Quick Reference> Hoisting> Standard Procedure. 2. Is there a weep hole on the end of the muffler as shown in (Fig. 1) ? • YES>>> This bulletin does not apply. Normal diagnosis should be performed. • NO>>> Proceed to Step 3. 3. NOTE: The weep hole must be drilled into the end of the muffler assembly as shown in (Fig. 1) . Using a 3 mm (1/8 in) drill bit and a drill, drill a weep hole no deeper than 2.5 cm (1 in.) into the muffler assembly at the bottom lower corner (Fig. 1) . Fig. 1 Muffler Assembly With Weep Hole 4.
