Technical Background The rear lid will not electrically open all of the way or may not electrically move at all. Trunk lamps may be inoperative. Also, interior lamps may not operate when opening the doors or may work after opening and closing the door several times. There may not be any stored faults. Service Begin by unplugging the trunk lamps and retesting rear lid operation. 1 Technical Tip 55-18-01TT Rear Lid Does Not Operate or Does Not Operate Correctly Transaction No: 2052612/3 Release date: 07/03/2020 If the lid now operates properly: Check the luggage compartment lamp part number by VIN in ETKA As a test: Unplug the lamps and retest operation. If operation is restored: If the incorrect parts installed, replace with the correct parts for the vehicle. If the issue is still present: Check the MVB for the lid lock motor in the -J519-. If not reading correctly: Check wiring and replace the lock motor as needed. If the MVB read correctly but the condition still exists: Monitor MVB for the rear lid motor sensors in -J605-, if sensors reads implausible or doesn't match current rear lid position, check wiring and connectors and repair as needed.
