  Issue: on certain vehicles, the drain tube for the air conditioning system may be blocked. As a result, water may leak inside the vehicle and into the airbag control module. If this happens, the airbag control module may not work properly and could cause the airbags to inflate without a crash. Safety risk: an airbag that inflates suddenly without a crash could create a risk of injury. Corrective actions: volkswagen will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the air conditioning system drain tube. If the tube is blocked, the dealer will repair it and replace the airbag control module.

  Issue: on certain vehicles, parts of the front seat frame and backrest adjuster may not have been properly welded. As a result, the backrest adjustment could break in a rear-end crash and allow to seat to move. Safety risk: a seatback that fails could cause an increased risk of injury in a crash. Corrective actions: the company will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to inspect the driver and passenger front seats.   Issue: on certain vehicles, the wiring contacts for the front doors may become damaged. If this happens, there could be a delay before the side airbags inflate in a side-impact crash. This problem could also cause the parking brake to engage while driving at low speed, cause the windows to roll down on their own, or give warning of a faulty door sensor. Safety risk: delayed inflation of the side airbags could create an increased the risk of injury in a crash. Corrective actions: volkswagen will notify owners by mail. • Fuel injector leak investigation # PE21008

  The office of defects investigation (odi) has received 3 complaints from vehicle owners and a number of ewr field reports alleging that the fuel injection system is leaking at or near the fuel injectors in 2018-2020 my volkswagen atlas vehicles. These vehicles are equipped with 3.6l engines. Odi also observed that warranty data for the fuel system was higher for the my 2018 atlas. Fuel injectors are leaking fuel near engine compartment components that operate at high temperatures. Consumers allege a fuel leak, fuel odor, and/or illuminated malfunction indicator light (mil) alerts them to the condition. Some complaints allege fuel “spewing from the engine compartment. Fuel leaking in the engine compartment has a higher potential risk of fire as the components are operating at higher temperatures compared to other areas of the vehicle. No fires have been connected to this issue to date.Odi is opening this preliminary evaluation (pe) to determine the scope and severity of the potential problem as well as fully assess the potential safety-related issues of fuel leaks for the 2018-2020 my volkswagen atlas. The contact owned a 2020 volkswagen atlas cross sport. The contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, he crashed into another vehicle and within seconds, his vehicle's engine compartment caught fire and exploded twice. The vehicle was engulfed in flames when the fire department arrived on the scene. The contact did not receive medical attention or sustain injuries however, the contact's wife received medical attention for injuries sustained and transported to the hospital by ambulance. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an auto service center and deemed totaled by the insurance company. The dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 16,643.

I brought car in for a recall inspection, that required photos of the defective parts number. The dealer did not provide me with the photos and i questioned wher are the photos , they sent me some generic photos of an underside of the car but nothing with clearly visible part numbers. The inspection may not have been done correctly and if the part breaks it results in a loss of steering and a tragic ending for the car and driver.

We experienced air bag deployment on both sides as a result of a low-speed contact with a curb. We were leaving a stop sign at a t intersection on a snowy road and the car slid making the left turn and the passenger side front wheel hit the curb. We could not have been travelling more than 10-15 miles an hour and the damage to the wheel is only scrapes. We feel very strongly that the air bags should not have deployed and have had the car inspected by collision experts that have documented that the air bags should not have deployed based on the minimal damage to the wheel. This is a very unsafe situation to have air bags deploy when they should not as they can injure passengers, we had one passenger with significant bruising. Vw is refusing to acknowledge a problem and have left us with a damaged 2020 vehicle that cannot be driven. I have attached photos of the vehicle.
