Technical Background All Volkswagen gasoline engines are filled to a specific volume before leaving the factory. This level may vary depending on the testing conditions, but will always be within the allowable specification for engine protection. Production Solution Not applicable. Technical Service Bulletin 17-18-03 - Engine Oil Level Transaction No: 2037201/12 Release date: 6/21/2021 Service When checking the engine oil level during PDI, ensure the oil level is within the oil level marks (B range in Figure 1) on the oil dip stick. When checking the engine oil level, ensure the engine is at operating temperature, park the vehicle on a level surface to help prevent an incorrect oil level reading. Switch off the engine and wait five minutes for the engine oil to flow back into the oil pan before checking the level. If the oil level is within the B range, DO NOT add additional oil. Figure 1.
